Happy Spring!!

Happy Spring everyone!!

I am so happy it's officially spring time and I can bust out all of my bright colors, prints, and sunglasses! I am loving this printed jumpsuit from Urban Outfitters and what a fun, easy outfit it makes. These long, wide legs are perfect for someone who is tall like me, and the thin straps make the piece great for sunny days. This piece is thin and light, and fits loosely on the body. I like to pair a little belt with it to give it more of a shape and some tightening at the bust.

I also just picked up this lovely denim jacket, and it was the perfect piece to throw on over the jumpsuit. I love the lighter wash of the jacket, and its cropped fit. I can't wait to throw this one on over my summer dresses and with some dark jeans at night!

With the weather so beautiful I am also stocking up on my sunglasses! I am not one to spend more than $20 on sunglasses (because I usually end up breaking every pair I buy), but this pair from Madewell was so cool, I decided to go for it! I feel like Kate Hudson from Almost Famous (which is totally awesome), and I love how the glasses bring the whole look together.

My Weekend in the Vineyards

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a beautiful weekend!

I just got back from the most amazing little vacation with my best friend. We road tripped around California to a friend's wedding and then up to San Luis Obispo where we went to college. The weather was absolutely perfect, and we got to stay with some friends whose back yard is literally a huge vineyard. The views were breath taking and we spent a lot of our time soaking up the beauty (and of course the wine). I miss living up in the central coast with all of the green valleys, beautiful mountains, and the many local wineries. We were only there for a few days but we packed each day with all of our favorite food, hikes, shopping, and friends.

Obviously, I had to take advantage of this view and ask my best friend to snap a few pictures of me for my blog, so here ya go! I have been loving these clogs and with the weather being so beautiful I was happy to throw on one of my favorite Free People dresses (which is also one of my favorite layering pieces). This Voile and Lace Trapeze Slip is easily one of Free People's most popular pieces, and if you are as obsessed with this dress as I am then you definitely own it in at least two colors. Being tall, I sized up in this slip so that it was long enough for me to wear as a dress and not just as a cute top. Although I do love this piece thrown over some jeans, I also love to wear it under a sweater or another warmer piece and let it's lacy trim hang out the bottom.

I bought this lovely cream crochet sweater a while ago and it has been one of my favorite pieces to throw on. Not only is it totally my style (with some groovy bell sleeves), but it is also super versatile, and it worked perfectly over my dress on this sunny day. Of course I had to give the outfit a little edge and throw on my tan harness vest and my floppy black hat to top it all off!

Thanks for reading and if you ever find yourself in the San Luis Obispo area I definitely suggest checking out the beautiful vineyards and all of the local wineries!!

Summer Lovin'

Hello lovely readers!!

With the weather so beautiful here in San Diego I figured it was about time to bust out a summer look! I have been living in these little cut off denim shorts from Free People so I had to make sure to include them in my post. I also am absolutely obsessed with this tank. I'm not going to lie... I own this tank in like 8 different colors... and not only are they the cutest cut, but they are only $20 from Free People!! It's rare to find this tank (the LA Nite Tank) in a store, so I always order them online. Anyone who knows me well has definitely seen me in several colors of this tank because I can throw them on with anything and everything. I love to tie up the tank when it's nice out (like I did here) and it makes the look very fun and casual!

I threw on my favorite sweater from Brandy Melville for some of the pictures to show how the look can be worn even if it's a little cooler out. Oh, and my favorite part of the outfit... the belt!! I don't typically wear belts, but I am loving the new trend of wearing chain or metal belts. It's almost like a necklace for your waist! I picked this one over many others because it also has a pretty blue stone that adds just the right amount of detail to the belt. I feel like a total gypsy in the belt, and I think it's such a fun piece to add to an outfit!

I threw on my short brimmed black hat and a pair of strappy sandals I've almost worn to death to complete this look. I definitely feel most comfortable in a summer outfit like this, and with the weather only getting nicer I'm excited to start sharing more of my summer looks!

Having Fun with Your Favorite Tee

I wanted to write about something fun this week, and I thought showing the versatility of a basic tee would be perfect. I love the idea of taking a more masculine piece like a baseball tee and pairing it with a feminine piece to create a girly, yet edgy look. I am definitely an advocate for the comfortable look. I love wearing soft, basic tees with some boyfriend jeans and converse, and having so many of these pieces has inspired me to try new things with them.

Lately I have been loving the look of a soft baseball tee, and this grey and black tee from Lucky Brand has been one of my go-to tops. I typically throw the tee on with some jeans, but with so many beautiful dresses in my closet I couldn't resist throwing it on over my Free People crochet slip and some little heels. I tied the tee up to the side for a relaxed cropped look, and of course I added a silver necklace for some extra detail.

Mixing these masculine and feminine pieces is so much fun and can give you a new way to wear so many staple pieces in your closet. Any cute tee thrown over a flowy dress or skirt can be so effortlessly adorable. I hope this gives you all some new outfit ideas!

xoxo

Printed Dresses & Tall Boots

I hope everyone had a great weekend! My best friends came to visit and we hung out on the beach all weekend, but now it's back to reality! Also, it surprised everyone in San Diego and poured down rain all day yesterday. It was actually really nice to have a rainy day, and it made it cool enough to throw on some tall boots with my dress!

I love the print of this Portobello Road Dress from Free People. The colors are perfect for spring and summer, and the open shoulder look is so in right now. Also, the dress comes with a detachable slip (as you can see in the photo below), so you can just throw it on and you're set to go! I added my favorite Free People gold choker to the look because with such a bold print a simple necklace was the only way to go. In warmer weather I might throw on some strappy sandals or my Birkenstocks with the dress, but it was cool enough to wear my tall boots today!

I picked up these white leather boots from Steve Madden a few years ago, and they are so unique. I never thought I would be so obsessed with white leather, but they are a beautiful color, have a chunkzipper up the side, and look perfect with some cute socks. I wore maroon socks to pull in the maroon details of the dress, and I love the look with the socks just slightly peeking out at the top.
