Crisscross Denim Sauce

 Hello readers!

So I'm pretty sure it's already summertime here in San Diego (just ask the weather), and that has put me in MAJOR beach mode. This weekend I spent my time outside in shorts and a tank top soaking up the beautiful sunshine, so it was only fitting I shot some pics by the beach!

My grandparents lived in La Jolla so I grew up very familiar with the area, and I still frequent this quaint little park with an amazing view (and beach access of course). The wind started to blow right before I started shooting, but this totally worked in my favor. I was laughing the whole time and the lighting made for some killer shots. I apologize for the overload of photos, but there were just too many good ones!

Now for the clothes... YES YES YES to denim mini's! I wondered how long this trend would last, but to my surprise the style seems to be here to stay (for a while at least). I love how many different ways the mini can be styled and it is a great cut for taller girls. If you live somewhere colder I would try the skirt with some tights, over the knee boots, and a cute jacket. I bought this mini from Urban Outfitters, and I will definitely be going back for the lighter wash. I paired the skirt with a comfortable crisscross cami from Free People (that I bought in multiple colors obviously). This top is perfect with high-rise jeans, shorts, a maxi skirt, etc. The possibilities are endless, and it's so affordable!!

Of course I topped my outfit off with some Western inspired silver & turquoise from The 2Bandits and some rad purple Ray-Bans.

Jump[suit]ing into Spring

I know it's February, but this weather is straight springtime, and I'm already dressing the part. I love myself a good jumpsuit, and this bright red color makes a serious statement. The cropped cut of this jumpsuit is perfect for a taller, long legged girl like myself. The legs are wide, the embroidery is lovely, and THERE ARE POCKETS... Sold. Am I right?

I paired the jumpsuit with some strappy sandals, and my new fringe cross-body. At night I would throw a denim jacket over the suit, or a leather jacket for an edgier look.

SPRING it on! xx

Wrap Skirt

Hello loves!!

How lovely is this printed wrap skirt from Novella Royale?! This brand kills it with the prints, and I have a few very colorful, vibrant prints by them, so I decided to switch it up with some black & white. I love the versatility of the skirt. I have already worn it dressed up to a wedding, paired with a graphic tee and clogs for a more casual look, and here I kept it simple with a black cropped cami from Free People. The skirt can be tied to have the slit anywhere you choose, and it flows beautifully while you walk, showcasing the subtle ruffle detailing.

Oh, and the shoes!! I bought these babies years ago on sale at Nordstrom (by Steve Madden), and I still love them for a night out, or paired with a long maxi skirt. The sides are studded, the leather is soft, and they are surprisingly comfortable.

Details below. xo

Dress Obsession

Happy February loves!!

I have been dying to blog about this dress ever since it came in the mail a few weeks ago, but I've been waiting for the perfect sunny day to dance around in it. I actually have a love story with this dress... I work for Free People and I saw the dress in a catalog a few months ago and attempted to order it immediately. Of course it sold out within days of the catalog coming out, and I just wasn't quick enough. I kept seeing pictures of the dress on social media and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had given up on my search when one night I was browsing FreePeople.com and I saw the dress back up on the site. I frantically clicked on it and found that there was literally only 1 left, and it was my size! I clicked through the order process as fast as I could and waited patiently for the dress to arrive.

I was about to leave the house one night when I looked down and saw my package at the doorstep! Of course I went back into the house and had to try the dress on to satisfy my curiosity, and I don't think I could love it any more. The sheer fabric, with the burnout velvet embroidery is even more beautiful in person, and the fit is just perfect. Not to mention, the dress comes with a skinny scarf that can be worn around the neck (see below post), or around the waist (shown here). I love how unique the dress is, and I sure am a sucker for anything For Love & Lemons.

This dress will be fun to throw a leather jacket over, pair with OTK boots, or pair with funky black heels. Here, I went for a simpler look because I didn't want to take away from the dress in all of its glory.
